Cumberland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of 2000, the population was 11,253. Its county seat is Toledo.
History
Cumberland County in 1843. It was named for the Cumberland Road, or National Road, which passed through it. The road ran from Cumberland, Maryland to Vandalia, Illinois. The ultimate origin of the name is Cumberland, a region in northwestern England.
